First I want to thank every single person for their prayers for my baby girl and our family. This week has been one of the worst and if you’re not sure on what I’m talking about you can read what all happen HERE.
Our second day in the Hospital was in crazy. The morning was ok until I noticed how white Ryan was. Now if you know me and my family you know that Ryan is my color baby. As in my boys are as white as can be and Ryan has a little more olive skin tone to her. I shared my concerns with my nurse at the time and I got nothing in return. It was not until the NNP came in that I finally got something back. It was a little normal for her to be pail from the surgery but she agreed to check her blood count just to be safe.
At this time we still had no idea what kind of infection it was that Ryan had.
Around 3pm the NNP and one of the surgeons (not her surgeon) came in to check on Ryan. We found out that her blood count was indeed low but not low enough for a transfusion so they put her back on the monitors to keep an eye on her. At this time we also found out that the culture came back as a staff infection. Not MRSA thank Gob but it was indeed staff.
NO one could tell us how she got it or how it got where it was. We had to wait for her surgeon to come talk to us.
I was finally able to give Ryan a bath and boy did she stink. But after the bath when the tech came in to put her leads on he put one of the leads over her incision and we did not realize it until we could not figure out why she was crying so bad. Finial figured it out and fixed the problem but then you had one very upset mom, dad and nanny.
The rest of the day went smooth so that night I decided to run over to Jared’s parents house to see the boys for a second and get out of the hospital room. I kid you not maybe 7 minutes after I got there my phone rings and Jared is telling me to get back right away. When I ask what happens he tells me that Ryan yanked her IV out after the nurse messed with it. 🙁 I was ready to cry at this time.
Nothing seemed to go right. I am happy I went back when I did because a few minutes after I got there her surgeon walked in to talk to us.
He came in and explained to us what he thought was going on. He still was not sure what exactly caused her mass but he wanted to keep her one more night to monitor her. He said that she was actually doing a lot better than he expected and this was still one of his cases that had him stumped. When I asked him what he though it was he told me that his though was a infected Lymphangioma. Try saying that twice. But he still was not certain and told us that she will have many MRI’s in her future to figure out what was going on because he still has never seen anything like that.
Anyways that is all we got when it comes to answers. She is now home and doing great. Her first night home she slept like a champ and is now on antibiotics to be safe. Jared and I still ask that you keep her in your prayers and that whatever this thing was does not come back and that her future MRI’s are normal.
Absolutely keeping her and you all in my prayers. I'm glad the scary part is over and you can take care of her at home. Much love to you all, Erica!
Your baby is in my prayers also. She is so beautiful. I am glad that she is doing so well and comfy at home now. I love her name, by the way. Very cute.
Sorry to hear this about your baby! Hope things continue to improve from here!! Sending prayers!!!
