Going on road trips with the littles is not always the easiest. Especially when you have two boys that love to fight constantly you have to get creative in the car. There are many different ways I like to keep the cool between the boys. The two main things would have to be getting them a new toy and always having some game on my phone or tablet.
While getting ready for our long trip (6 hours-shoot me now) to Louisiana I decided to take my boys to Toys “R” Us and let them pick out which toys they wanted. Of course, they headed straight for the Disney Pixar Cars. They are obsessed with the movie and all things that have to do with cars, tractors and planes. Of course, all the new Radiator Springs Exclusive Die-Cast vehicles were out and I just had to get my children them. I thought about getting two of the Green Ramone because I just knew my boys would fight over that one.
But before the showdown in the car over who gets to play with which toy I decided to to download the new Cars Daredevil app that is available with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
I have to admit I was a little caught up in playing the game myself that my son Nolan was trying to fight over it when it was his turn and telling me that I needed to share. (Whos phone is this anyways?)
After downloading the app, it’s quite simple to start the fun. I loved all the fun colors and excitement. When you first start (as shown in the pictures below) you jump from island to island that is once you beat the first. During your racing adventure, you make jumps as you wish by pushing the flip right, left for the center button. I did learn that depending on how fast and how many flips you make will depend on how many stars the game will give you.
Once you get to the end of your racing adventure, depending on how many stars you earn will depend on how many prizes you can win. For example in the picture below I won this amazing new little car to add to my collection of racing cars.
My son also won a few extra cars that he just loved changing out throughout each new “world”.
The Radiator Springs Exclusive Die-Cast Vehicles worked for me in other ways such as getting ready for our trip. It had been a long night at work the night before and I still had to finish packing. The house was clean and the last thing I wanted the boys to do was pull out a ton of toys and make a mess of my clean house. I made life a little simpler and told them that if they stayed on the carpet they could play with their new toys and even take the cars with them in the car. (Something I already had planned buy hey they didn’t need to know, right?)
After all the packing was complete, and we were finally on the road to Louisiana. I was more than right when it came to keeping them occupied. Nolan took turns playing with the phone while Luke played with the cars. That is until they fell asleep and woke up wanting to fight over who got what. That is of course when Disney Pixar Cars was popped in with toys in one hand, phone in another. (Anything for a quiet ride with no fighting).
What is that special something you do to keep your little ones from fighting on a long trip in the car? I would love to hear your stories of how things like Disney Pixar Cars helps out with your trip.
My 6 year old boy and 2 year old girl, just got into the sibling fighting stage! Oh boy, they all have to have the same things! Great post and adventure! #client
