It is Christmas time people! Crazy right? I feel like this year has gone by way too fast and just keeps flying by as if my life is a race. My children are getting older by the second, and my mind is spinning on what I should get them for Christmas. Regardless, I love this time of year. I love walking into my house after a long night of work or even a long day and smelling the scents of the season.

Have you ever had one of those days where nothing seems to go right? From dropping the kids off at school to going grocery shopping and coming home only to realize that you forgot that main ingredient you needed for those cookies that you need ASAP? Or even walking through HEB when your baby has an explosive diaper only to realize that you forgot to put more diapers in her diaper bag? Yes, I’ve had many days like this. These are the days I love coming home to my Glade® Limited Edition Winter Collection Jar Candles and Christmas decor.
The scents and decor of Christmas are nothing less than heartwarming and make my long night at work and worries of the day melt away. It calms my negative attitude and helps me relax. That’s why I want to show you this awesome DIY Christmas craft for you to make at home. Make Christmas warm and fuzzy with Glade® and some new Christmas decor.
The good thing about this DIY Nutcracker is that you can make it any size you want. I made mine mini just so that it could fit on my counter between my kitchen and living room. Don’t forget to stop by your local HEB and pick up your Glade® Limited Edition Winter Collection scents. My favorites are CHERISH THE PRESENT™ Apple Cinnamon and BE AT PEACE™ Balsam Fir & Juniper as shown in the picture above. Other things you will need to make your Nutcracker are:
Five clay pots. (Any size)
Paint. For a traditional nutcracker, you will need gold, black, nude, and red.
Wood flat board for shoulders.
Ribbon for your shoulders.
Hot glue gun.
Before we get started, let me caution you when working with clay pots. You need to be extremely careful. They can break very easily. The best way I found to do this is to lay them all out as shown and follow the picture below for the colors. DO NOT try and paint them while they are on top of each other. They are fragile enough and this will increase your risk of dropping or messing up, and we don’t want that happening.
Once you have all your basic colors painted it will be time to move onto the face. I found the face was easiest when I used the smallest brush I could find.
When making the belt buckle, I placed them on top of each other so I could make sure they matched up perfectly. Aside from the final assembly, getting this step down would be the only time I recommend stacking them.
Once you are done painting you will want to stack your pots one by one and hot glue them to each other. Like shown below.
After you are done hot gluing your pots together, you will want to paint your wooden stick and flat board. The top of your shoulder boards should be black and your stick arms should be red. Glue them as shown below.
The last thing you will have to do is place your ribbon around the corners of your shoulders and find the nutcracker a home. This piece is perfect for that one corner you have no idea what could fit there.
What makes your home feel like Christmas? For me, it might be Glade® Limited Edition Winter Collection Jar Candles and Christmas decor. Maybe you like to bake cookies?
