The summer break from school is well underway. But before we know it, it will be back to school for our little angels. And getting ready to go back to school can take some planning and organization, especially if you have more than one child. You may be someone that gathers things throughout the school year, so that you don’t have to do it all at once. But most of us tend to use the summer break as the time to get all of the back to school supplies.
To make it a little simpler for you, here are some of the items that no doubt you will need to get, ready for your children starting back at school in August or September. Have you made a start with the back to school supplies yet?
Backpack and Stationery
Some schools may provide a backpack and stationery, but a lot of them don’t. So getting one that will be practical to fit in all of the things that they need, as well as one that they approve of (always a fun task) can take some planning. It can be a good idea to try to go for ones that are as plain as possible, as they may no longer like the character after a few months, and want a new one. So for longevity, the plainer the better.
As for the stationery, there are plenty of different things to be getting. Pens, coloring markers, glue sticks, erasers, and crayons are all good choices.
On a similar note, getting a new bag for lunch can be a good thing, if they take a packed lunch with them to school, rather than getting a school lunch. Again, look for ones that are practical, and ones that will last a long time. Bento style boxes are pretty popular at the moment, so that could be a good idea if you’ve got a fussy eater heading off to school.
Often you will just need to get a uniform for sports and games from the school. But you have to consider the extra curricular activities that they are planning to go to, or that you know they are planning to go to. You might need to get football uniforms, gymnastic clothes, soccer shoes, or baseball gear. So just check with the school what the plans are, as well as talk to your children about what they plan on doing this year at school.
Clothes and Shoes
Unless you have a uniform, you have the joy of doing the back to school shopping with the kids. Having some clothes that are set aside for school can be a good idea, so that their weekend clothes are different. School clothes are likely to have more wear and tear to them over the course of the school year, so you don’t want to ruin any nice weekend clothes by wearing them to school. Look out for the back to school sales going on over summer to get some bargains.
