You might think that updating the look of a room in your home should take all weekend. But in reality, there are plenty of minimal things we can do that will have big impact on a living space. If you have some time off work, or your parents have taken the kids out for the day or maybe if the baby is sleeping, read on and take a look at some of these home updates you can complete this weekend without breaking a sweat.
Hows your garden looking?
When we think of updating our homes, we often overlook out garden or outdoor space. But taking a little time to look after your garden will not only make your home look great but it’ll make you feel good too. It’s been scientifically proven that spending time in nature and around plants is good for not only our physical well being but our mental health too. So, now is the time to get out into your garden and see what needs doing. Need a little guidance on what should grow where? Click the link to find out more.
It could be an hours worth of weeding, a quick run around with the lawn mower or you could start your very own herb garden from scratch in a window box. Whatever you choose to do in your outdoor space, you’ll certainly feel good for doing it!
Organise those family photos
If you’re one of those people who have released your photographs from the depths of social media and have actually got them printed then now is the time to get the organised. All those family photographs that have been tucked away in little folders and placed in a drawer can finally see the light of day. It’s advisable to go through each photograph, try to find the date when it was taken and write it on the back of the picture as well as the location and who was in the picture. It’ll make it easier if you’re going to start placing images in photo albums.
Or go a step further and display all those lovely photos, either get yourself some new frames or upcycle some old ones and create a gallery wall.
No one said all these tasks were fun! But if your home is already stuffed with things you don’t see, don’t use and deep down don’t want then now is the time to get rid of it. Even the sentimental things could do with thinning out a bit. Again, it’s been proven that clearing out clutter, clears our minds too!
Why not make your bedroom a little more, romantic? You don’t have to even be in a relationship to appreciate the calm of a gently burning candle and enjoy the puff of your favourite scent. Clear the clutter, treat yourself to some new bed sheets and scatter cushions, or completely rearrange your bedroom furniture so it looks like a completely different room!
