Dear friends and family,
I know, I know, it’s been way to long since I’ve given a true update. You see, our new home has yet to get internet. (Please be praying it happens soon) The Husband, kids and I have now been living in Alabama for a little over 3 months and so much has happened in that time. Of course, making the move from our family and home in Texas was hard for us, however, if there has ever been an easier transition it has been this one. We just found the move much easier to handle knowing that we had left the sale of our old house in the safe hands of someone similar to these Raleigh Home Buyers so that we could focus on our new home instead. I’m glad we decided to make this decision in the end. But anyway. So much has happened and I can’t wait to tell y’all about it.
It feels like just yesterday that we were checking out some of the real estate opportunities in Texas on websites like Door.com and now our dreams have become a reality and we have finally moved into our gorgeous new home. We saw some fantastic properties online and we were tempted to move to Austin too at one point. Austin is a great place and I would consider moving there in the future. We had even spoken to a new home builder who suggested looking at some custom homes. I’ve always liked the thought of designing my own house, what a dream! There were some amazing options available, however, it was Alabama that captured our hearts.
When the kids and I first arrived here in Alabama our house wasn’t quite ready. It was up and beautiful, however, it had been raining so much that they weren’t able to get the septic tank in due to the mud. We also had to contact a Locksmith Mentone (or one more local to our house), and they were able to sort out all of our locks/keys for the new house. We were so excited whilst all of this was being done. We just wanted to move in and start decorating! During this time, we stayed with what we consider some awesome and lifelong friends now, Cody and Taylor. They opened their home up to all 6 of us and we had the best of times. We stayed with them for 3 weeks and during those three weeks, we made friends that will last us a lifetime.
Jared and I both have been through so much since we’ve moved here, aside from making new friends and getting to know the congregation at church we’ve grown tenfold in our walk with Christ. Jared and I both have learned and learned and learned and continue to learn as time passes. We both have mentors that are more than happy to teach us the ins and outs of ministry and how to run a God-centered ministry with a strive for excellence.
We’ve enjoyed Easter and our first few VRC Outreaches, we’ve seen almost 100 people dedicate their lives to Christ (how awesome is that?) The kids, started, ended and already went to kids camp.
The Husband and I have started our very first garden. Something that we have fallen in love with. We both love being able to grow our very own veggies, and have also been learning the do’s and don’ts of owning your own garden. Next year we will truly have a beautiful garden.
I’ve always wanted a Great Dane so The Husband got me one. Her name is Dixie, she has one blue and one brown eye and is the best dog ever. I’m so in love with her.
I’m also in the process of making my very first chicken coop. I want fresh eggs. The overall goal for us is to make as much of our food as we can, have chickens to make our eggs and only have to buy our meat.
As for the meat, Jared and I are saving up money to buy half a cow. Yes, you heard that right. We want to buy our meat in the form of half a cow. Fresh, organic, grass-fed cow. I’m so excited about that one. Our family eats so much meat it will be so worth it in the long run.
Well, that’s about it for now. We all are loving our new home here in sweet home Alabama. We have truly become country people and The Husband is absolutely loving it. Our church is great, our church family is great and all I need now is some darn internet so that I can spend more time with y’all here on my blog.
Love all of you, miss all of you and we will be coming home in November for Thanksgiving.
Can’t wait to see everyone.
Erica
