Staying on top of your exercise goals can be really tough when you’re finally able to relax, unwind, and kick back for a few weeks. While this is perfectly acceptable, it’s also a great feeling to still be fit and healthy when you get back to the real world. Working out while you’re enjoying your holiday can actually be quite simple and rewarding – and it doesn’t have to involve spending hours in a dry gym either.
Here is a couple of achievable workouts that you should try to incorporate this summer for a bit of extra energy.
#1 Get started in the morning
The best way to go about this is to get your workout over with first thing in the morning. That way, you’ll be able to enjoy the rest of your day and relax your tired body. Do something calming that you have easy access to, such as going for a swim after breakfast or join a low-intensity yoga class. Places such as Marriott’s Ocean Pointe offers access to gym, swimming pools, and are, of course, located right by the beach – so you really have a lot of options to choose from in case you’re not interested in hitting the gym.
#2 Keep it short
The trick to actually following through with a workout routine while your mind is set on relaxation is not to ruin your motivation by committing to a long session. Chances are that, by talking yourself into an hour-long run at the beach, you’re going to skip the next session out of pure fear – and probably the one after that as well.
Keep it short and sweet by aiming for about 20 minutes per workout and follow through with it three days per week. It’s quite achievable, right?
#3 Do something you enjoy
Now that you know when to exercise and how long to do it for, it’s time to figure out the best kind of workout session. This is, of course, different for everyone. Start by checking out the resort you are staying at and see what kind of gym equipment they offer, if they do any classes you might be interested in, and so on – it’s a shame to miss out on great activities when you’re already paying up to stay there.
A good tip is to spruce up your routine by exercising at the beach one day, going for a long swim on the next, and maybe staying in the gym on another day. That way, you won’t get bored and you’re also able to take part in everything that’s happening where you’re staying. It’s a win-win and your body will love you for it.
#4 Try to think about vegetables too
Although it’s the last thing we want to think about while chilling it out by the beach; try to keep a balanced diet. It’s going to have a lot to say about how you feel on your holiday, in any way, and eating the right amount of vegetables will ensure that everything is working as it should. Just like, have a bloody mary instead of that pina colada, if you know what I mean?
When you get into it, staying away from exercise and healthy food can be quite difficult as you feel it on your body when you’re not moving. Give yourself a break and do just a bit of exercise while vacationing – it’s certainly not going to do any harm.
