Before becoming a Pastor’s wife I never truly understood all that our Pastors do. It goes beyond Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. It’s our/their life. The ministry, whether it be the music they sing, teaching our children and teens or preaching a sermon on Sunday Morning, is something they devote their whole lives too. They live it, day in and day out. They are there for people in need and on call 24 hours a day and more than happy to do all for the glory of God.
Our Pastors aren’t looking for recognition, praise or acknowledgment. However, it doesn’t hurt to show them appreciation now and then.
Did you know that October is Pastor appreciation month? If not, that’s ok! It’s not too late to do something special for them. This year, being that I’m a Pastor’s Wife, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. I decided I wanted to get crafty and make their staff meeting a little fun. I contacted my church and found out that the secretaries had already planned to have a “boss day” lunch during their staff meeting. SO I jumped in and incorporated my decorations with what they already had planned.
The ladies planned to make some Taco soup and dessert, and I offered to bring some fruit.
I wanted to take it a step further and made each of the pastors and their wives a survival kit. I knew it wasn’t much but I’m a crafty person and it’s one thing I knew I could do.
