Being a mom is hard. Mothers have such pressure to be the perfect mom. We are always making sure the house is clean, that the kids are not watching too much T.V., playing outside (but not alone), getting enough nutrition and not eating junk, etc. I could go on and on, but I think you get where I’m going here. WE, as parents, have to be near “perfect” which means we need our sleep to stay sane. Getting a good night of sleep can be hard when you have a little one who likes to wake up every few hours. There have been so many times where I feel like I’ve had no sleep at all. I spoke to a few friends of mine who are also moms and they mentioned how I should look into implementing sleep training tips, as this could help improve my child’s sleep routine, which will also make it easier for me to get to sleep too. They also mentioned that getting a good night’s sleep is as simple as being comfortable throughout the night. So if it means putting on the fan to keep the room cool, putting away my phone way before going to sleep, or even treating myself to a brand new pajama set from sites like luxury silk life, this could make all the difference when it comes to finally getting a good nights sleep even while looking after kids. No one said looking after a child was easy, this is just something parents learn over time.
This is why I decided to share with you what we have done to help our youngest sleep for longer periods of time and even all night.
Step 1: Bath time!
Bath time is extremely important for your child. It not only cleans their smelly and sticky little bodies but it also helps soothe them to help them rest easier. Just think of it as yourself. Have you ever been to bed without showering? I know I have, and I hated it. I love the clean feeling of laying in my bed, having a clean body. I know it helps me sleep easier so why wouldn’t it help them? We need all the extra help we can get to help them sleep all night. I’m almost positive that this is one of them. Give your children a nice long bath!
Step 2: We like to turn off all the lights about 30 minutes before bed. We use a sleep calculator to discern when she should be asleep by. You can get a sleep calculator for kids on Sleepify. Then we give Ryan a snack or glass of milk and sit with her while she winds down. This not only helps her wind down but it also helps her relax, and she gets that extra cuddle time with us. We don’t let the kids sleep in bed with us, so she loves the cuddle time. This is also a great time to read a book as well.
Step 3: I created these small, simple and easy glow in the dark stars and swirls to give Ryan something to look at while going to sleep. This has helped her in many ways. She not only loves to look at them but it has also helped her stop wanting that extra bottle before bed.
Here is what you need to make them!
A poster board, glow in the dark paint, scissors, tape, paintbrush, and string to help hang from the ceiling. It is really quite simple. First, you will want to draw your stars and circles on the poster. Then paint over the stars and circles with the glow in the dark paint. Let the paint dry, cut out your stars and circles. Tape your string to the back of the stars and hang them up. By only taping, one part of the star edge allows the stars to turn in circles getting the motion. Simple right? Now turn off the light and enjoy.
Step 4: Last but not least don’t forget to use Huggies OverNites Diapers along with Huggies Natural Care Wipes. (You can find them at Walmart) We have been using these for a couple of weeks now and I cannot tell you how much they have helped. Ryan no longer wakes up because of feeling wet. We have had no accidents! (AMAZING) But not only are they amazing but they have an all night leakage protection for up to 12 hours. A snugFit Waistband to help the diaper stay in place and with the Huggies Natural Care Wipes made with 99 percent water helping any issues we may have with sensitive skin, which happens to run in the family.
